With the upcoming release of Spider-Man: Homecoming in theaters next month, it’s leading actor, Tom Holland, is about to get really busy. With the filming for Avengers: Infinity Wars kicking off in January promising the return of Spider-Man, not only in his self titled upcoming film, but also the mega-hit that Marvel is releasing next summer, Holland let it slip during an interview to Allocine that Spider-Man would in fact be seen in two more sequels! That’s right, a trilogy!

“There is still plenty of room to see Peter Parker and especially Spider-Man grow up in the next two movies”

And if you think that was a slip of tongue, don’t worry. Holland clarified that, there would indeed by a trilogy with two sequels to follow and that “oops” he probably wasn’t supposed to be telling press this information. But he’s young, we can understand the mistake and get how excited he is.

“Yes, there will be Spider-Man: Homecoming 2 and Spider-Man: Homecoming 3… Now, you know, sorry, Marvel, oops!”

But in reality, this will be the, what, third time that a Spider-Man series has happened? The Toby McGuire trilogy was good…until it wasn’t. It was going great until halfway through the third film when it took a sharp left turn and just became weird. Should they just stop? Look at how far they’ve pushed and pushed the X-Men films. They’ve kind of run them to the ground and killed a series that I can say I once upon a time loved. So can Sony and Marvel bring Spider-Man back to life? Can they give us the Spider-Man trilogy we really want to see? We see the potential with Spider-Man: Homecoming so far, especially as a booster for the MCU as a whole, but we’ll have to wait and see what will happen with this trilogy.
