It’s said that a dog is man’s best friend, but in the case of Steadfast Stanley dog is a young boys best friend and faithful companion braving the zombie apocalypse to find his boy. Made by CalArts film student John Cody Kim, the short film was released the summer of 2014, at the end of his spring term. Since then, it has made the rounds of social media and YouTube popularity. We can only hope he got an A on this project, because we think this animated short is absolutely adorable.

Stanley is an adorable Pembroke Welsh Corgi and he loves his boy, but trouble is coming outside the home as a disaster of an apocalypse is attacking the city they live in. To keep her son safe, the boys mother takes them away from their home, leaving Stanley behind with his boys favorite shoe, the pair to the shoes he was wearing. Determined to be there for his boy, Stanley runs after the car, searching the city as he dodges zombie mail men and scary explosions going on all around him. About to give up hope, he comes across the car his boy left in and hopes his boy is close by.

To a child, a dog can be their best friend and closest companion. The loss of that companion, especially during a time of stress and need could be devastating and as you watch the video, it clearly is devastating on both the dog and the boy he loves so much. With a beautiful mix of humor and music that matches the entire video perfectly, this has to be one of the cutest videos we have ever found on YouTube and you’ll definitely enjoy it.
