There’s always worry when an actor takes the role of a legendary singer, whether they will be able to hold their own in the singing department. That question may have come up when it came to Tom Hiddleston portraying Hank Williams in I Saw the Light, a biopic of Williams life and career, but once you hear Hiddleston sing, you can’t believe it’s really him. Starting promotions in 2014, Hiddleston learned the music, practiced his Southern accent and went to work on this famous character. And we couldn’t be more excited to see the actual film, especially once you hear him perform live for an audience. See below his performance at Wheatland Music Festival in 2014. A surprise performance with Rodney Crowell, the crowd went wild once Hiddleston began to play guitar and sing a classic Williams song, “Move it on Over”.
But this isn’t the only example of Hiddleston performing, which for us is a great treat. He also performed at the premiere party in Nashville back in 2015. For this performance he sang “Hey Good Lookin’” and many other classic Hank Williams songs. The video below shows a compilation of his performance and it only makes us all that more excited to see the film. The film has a limited release on March 25 in the United States, while it originally was released on September 11, 2015 at the Toronto International Film Festival.
