Just one week before Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is to hit theaters, we’re getting news of the Justice League, which will be following the film in 2017. A casting choice that was rumored back in January, it’s officially been announced that Amber Heard will be joining the superhero cast as Mera, whom in the comics is Aquaman’s wife and Queen of Atlantis. Heard will be appearing as Mera first in Justice League and then will star alongside Jason Mamoa’s Aquaman in the self titled film: Aquaman.
Heard recently discussed her part and her costume in an interview with Entertainment Tonight:
“It’s interesting. I’m wearing, like, half suit of armor, half scales. It’s strange. But we’re in the process of building it now. It’s coming along.”
The film will be directed by Zack Snyder, with filming beginning on April 11 of this year. With a very full cast, we will once again see Ben Affleck as Batman and Henry Cavill as Superman and Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman. But for the other members of the team, we’ll see Ezra Miller as The Flash, Ray Fisher as Cyborg, and Jason Mamoa as Aquaman as we stated above. This is all exciting news, especially with all the anticipation building even more over Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’s release next week.
