Fans of the of the classic 1950s EC Comics series and later HBO show, Tales From the Crypt can rest easy as M. Night Shyamalan reveals some very important news about the upcoming show. The TNT revival has been kept under some tight wraps since it was announced that the show was being redone. But over the past weekend at WonderCon, Shymalan revealed to /Film that “There will [be a Crypt Keeper],” in the upcoming revival.
The show, which ran from 1989 to 1996 on HBO, featured a Crypt Keeper puppet voiced by John Kassir and operated by Van Snowden. The Crypt Keeper became the the franchise’s most recognizable character since he introduced the tales that would emerge from the crypt.
At this time, we don’t know what the character will be like or how the new Crypt Keeper will take form. Will it be CGI? Will it be a classic puppet? Shyamalan has given us a small teaser to chew on as we impatiently wait for more news and for the show to officially air. He did however reveal that the show will be “more individual Black Mirror kind of stuff” rather than a season-long anthology set up.
