Have you ever wondered how Princess Leia got the plans to the Death Star? Well, that is the story that will be told in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story this coming December. The excitement about the film right now, is the first official trailer that teases what is to come in the first anthology film to the series. A stand alone story set in the Star Wars universe, Rogue One was written by Gary Whitta and Chris Weitz, with Gareth Edwards leading the charge as director. With an all star cast including Felicity Jones, Forest Whitaker, Mads Mikkelsen, Riz Ahmed and many more, hopefully, Rogue One will give fans an exciting new story that fits nicely between Episodes III and IV.
The rather short trailer released on Good Morning America introduces what we can assume is our new heroine, Jyn Erso (Jones). A troublemaker, Jyn, it seems, is picked up by the rebels and given the opportunity to join the fight against the evil Galactic Empire by infiltrating it’s ranks to steal the plans to the dreaded Death Star. We know that there is a team involved, but at this point who is on that team is still in question. It would seem that Forest Whitaker’s unknown character is on the team, but we can’t know for sure at this point.
The trailer does however have a darker feel to it compared to other Star Wars films. Other than the fact that we know they end up stealing the plans, I’m not sure this film is going to end all happy and fuzzy feeling. Also, could there be a connection between Star Wars: Rebels, the animated hit TV show to this upcoming film? We can only wait to see as more information is released on the film and hopefully more trailers come sooner rather than later.
