Fans of Barbershop have a lot to be excited for in the coming months, with the official release of the second trailer for the third installment of the series that started 12 years ago. Barbershop: The Next Cut is tackling some very poignant issues by addressing gang violence in the city of Chicago. As revealed in the trailer, the film, starring Ice Cube and Cedric the Entertainer, takes a look at what a community is willing to do to stand up against violence in their neighborhood.

Malcolm D. Lee is directing this latest installment and spoke to EW about the film and what he saw as a connection to movie history:

“…It really reminded me a lot of Boyz n the Hood. It’s ironic that Ice Cube is the Fuirous Stylesrole that Laurence Fishburne playbed back in the day…. That’s the big emotional spine of the movie.”

Barbershop: The Next Cut opens in theaters on April 15 and is ready to address current issues that pose a threat to youth in Chicago. Meanwhile, check out the trailer below.
