It is finally here! The teaser trailer for Star Wars: The Last Jedi has finally been released at “Star Wars” Celebration in Orlando. The trailer came after an hour long panel where cast members discussed what we will see in the upcoming film. Moderated by Josh Gad, the panel was filled with humor and jokes as Gad, as a fan, tried to get the answers we all have been dying to know the answer to. But before we get to the actual trailer, let’s recap on the entire event, which had us wanting more and more from those in attendance. The panel started with Director Rian Johnson and Kathleen Kennedy coming out to answer a few questions and discuss The Last Jedi.
But they weren’t the only two to grace the panel of all-stars. Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, newcomer Kelly Marie Tran and the great Mark Hamill joined them onstage to discuss the film in as much depth as they could, which wasn’t all that much. But we did get some awesome insights from Ridley and her character Rey. She stated that in this next episode, we will go deeper into Rey’s story and past. She’ll also struggle with the reality of meeting someone who you have such high expectations for and they end up falling flat. So Luke Skywalker is going disappoint?! This could get very interesting.
But let’s get to the trailer, because in reality, that’s what we really want to talk about right? Right. The trailer focuses on Rey and what obviously is her training with Luke. We see snippets of the other characters, Po and Finn, fighting against the Empire and we even get a shot of Kylo Ren, but the focus is primarily on Rey. Rey and Luke are talking about the Force over the trailer and we hear Luke clearly say that there is “so much more” to the Force than just the Light Side and the Dark Side. What has he uncovered in his life as in isolation? Then he clearly says, “I only know one truth. It’s time for the Jedi to end.” These lines are paired with fighting and what can be only taken as a foreboding and dark image of Luke in a cave, clearly still on his island as a hermit.
Overall, the footage that we are getting to see is amazing. Full of action and lightsaber training and possible fighting, it’s everything we can hope for from a Star Wars film. What did you think about the trailer? Watch it below and then comment and share your thoughts with us. Star Wars: The Last Jedi hits theaters this holiday season on December 15.
