The dream of becoming a Disney princess is shared by many a young girl around the world and Auli’i Cravalho of Oahu shared in that dream. At fourteen years old she aspired to become a Disney princess, as well as a singer or an actress. “From baby time to now, I wanted to be a Disney princess and then I wanted to be a singer or an actress,” she told People magazine.
When she heard about the audition, Auli’i didn’t think she had what it took to become the newest Disney princess, Moana. But when an Oahu casting agent heard her perform at a charity competition, she got an audition in LA for the part and her whole world was about to change.
The character of Moana is everything you would hope for from Disney. With a wild spirit and a strong will, Auli’i told People she, “just love watching how [Moana] goes along in this wonderful movie and grows as a person and helps her culture along the way.” Auli’i was the last audition to be seen, but she sure made an impression it seems as she takes on the challenge of the part. Dwayne Johnson (Furious 7) will work alongside her, portraying a demigod named Maui.
