It looks like rumors that have been flying around involving Kurt Russell and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 are in fact true! Russell confirmed that he is in talks with Marvel Studios for a role in the upcoming sequel, but the reality of the situation isn’t as simple as the rumors that have been spreading like wildfire.
The truth of the matter is that Russell admitted to never seeing Guardians of the Galaxy and once he admitted that little piece of information, he had to be honest about his interest in the part. “…I just had to be honest,” Russell told Wolfpop podcast, “and say, “Thank you for considering me, I have to read [the script], and I have to watch the [first] movie because I can’t bring anything for you [right now]. I’ve got nothing to offer here. So, I’m amazed to get asked about this because everybody knows more about it than I do…it’s a little weird.”
With that information out on the table, it’s only a matter of time before news hits of whether or not Russell will actually be in the film. The big question is though, what character would he be playing? There have been rumors of him portraying the father of Chris Pratt’s character, Peter Quill, but we won’t know the specifics for some time. But could Marvel really be bringing in Star Lords dad and give us an origin story? We can only hope that’s in our future when it comes to the MCU!
