Another trailer for Disney’s Moana is finally here and it’s just way too cute! The trailer shows baby Moana playing by the shoreline and collecting shells. While there she meets a new friend, Water, for the first time and it’s a friendship that will clearly last her lifetime and play a huge part in the film. When similar footage was shown at the Disney D23 Expo last year, Director Ron Clements told fans of the importance of this meeting and explained how it would play a part in the film.

“There is one other very important character we want to mention in this movie, the Pacific Ocean,” Clements told the audience. The back story behind this, stems from the research they did in the South Pacific for the film. To the people of the South Pacific, the ocean is more of “a person or a friend” rather than a large body of water that could be seen as intimidating. Because of this, they wanted to create a conversation between the Ocean and Moana, giving Moana a friendship with what could possibly be a complex character.
